Ben Turner, a senior at Deerfield Academy, climbed Kilimanjaro raising over $100,000 for One Revolution
The Climb: July, 2012, I traveled to Tanzania with my fellow climbers and guides and summited Mount Kilimanjaro. Crowned by its eternal snow-cap and standing at 19,340 feet, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa. It is comprised of three extinct volcanoes and is the largest freestanding mountain in the world.
The Cause: Aside from the personal challenge, I climbed to support One Revolution, founded by Chris Waddell. In the fall of 2009, Chris, the most decorated male skier in Paralympic history, became the first paraplegic to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro unassisted.

In 2010, Chris was inducted into both the Paralympic Hall of Fame and the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. Through One Revolution, Chris seeks to change the way the world sees people with disabilities through the common experience of challenge. My climb will specifically raise money to allow One Revolution to work with Mobility Care in Tanzania to produce the world's first All-Terrain Handcycles, like the one Chris used to climb Kilimanjaro. Through fundraising, such as I am doing, One Revolution will be able to distribute Handcycles and wheelchairs and provide vocational opportunities for people with disabilities.
How to help: I have already raised over $100,000 for One Revolution! The work One Revolution is doing will change deserving people’s lives dramatically. Each Handcycle will allow its recipient to be productive in their community and will therefore positively effect many other lives in turn. The love and care needed to make the Handcycles and to distribute them is already in place; Chris and his team are tirelessly at work. What they need is the financial support of those of us fortunate enough to live without the challenges those with disabilities must face daily in the third world. You can help by making a generous contribution today. Every donation will bring mobility, independence, and dignity to a deserving recipient. Please join me in supporting this awesome cause.

All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by U.S. law. One Revolution is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
Thank you!: Please look through this website to photographs and news of my climb and our fundraising success!!!
